    3 Days in Barcelona, Spain

Oh, Barcelona. One of my favorite cities in the world! In college, I studied abroad in this amazing city for 3 months. This past January, I finally got the chance to return. Sadly only for 3 days instead of 3 months. However, this time I was able to bring my mom with me . I was so excited at the opportunity to show her all of my favorite places in Barcelona. Since it was my mom’s first time in the city, I wanted to make the most out of our 3 days in Barcelona and be sure she saw everything there was to see.  Day 1: Gothic Quarter, Barcelona Cathedral,…

    2 Days in Zurich, Switzerland

I recently visited Zurich, Switzerland on a family vacation with my parents. Zurich was the first stop on our itinerary so we only had 2 days to make the most out of our stay. Luckily, the city made that very easy for us! We arrived on a Friday morning around 11am. Like the majority of Europe, Zurich has great public transportation and our hotel was easily accessible by a quick train and bus ride. It wasn’t the most enjoyable thing to lug large suitcases around, but we made it work. By 3pm we were in our rooms, showered and ready to take on the city.  Day 1 Our first day…

    Hiking in Zion National Park

I recently embarked on a cross country road trip from the west coat to the east coast. After spending the weekend in Las Vegas, I decided to make a stop in Zion National Park. I am also lucky enough to have a dad who shares my love of hiking and who decided to take work off to accompany his daughter for a couple days on the trails. After picking my dad up at the Vegas airport, we made the quick two hour drive to Zion and arrived with enough time for a couple trails.  Since I was in the middle of my road trip, we only spent about a day…

A Night in the Sahara Desert

The Sahara Desert is a truly magical place to spend a night. On a trip to Morocco, while studying abroad, my friend and I decided we couldn’t miss out on this experience. So with the help of our hostel, we booked a trip into the Sahara for the next night.  We departed from Marrakesh, where we took a ride into the beginning of the desert. We came to the initial starting point for the adventure into the desert. Here is where we got acquainted with our new camel best friends and saddled to spend a night in the Sahara Desert. The trek into the desert took about 2 hours until…

How to Spend 48 Hours in New Orleans

Back in College a group of us decided to take the weekend and road trip down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. The road trip in itself was an adventure and took us 27 hours of straight driving to get there. We ended up going the weekend after Fat Tuesday so we weren’t there when the party was in full swing, but that didn’t seem to slow anything down! So if you have limited time to spend in New Orleans and want to make the most of it, continue reading to find out how we spent 48 hours in New Orleans. Day 1 Go on a Swamp Tour Something New…

5 Things To Do on a Girl’s Weekend in San Diego

San Diego is a perfect place for a quick weekend escape with a couple girl friends. San Diego offers so many different types of adventures, it makes it easy to please any type of girl. Our weekend in San Diego was one filled with Mexican food, rooftop bars, sunbathing on the beach and taking an obnoxious amount of touristy photos. What to do: 1. Take a Pub Bike Tour of Downtown Our weekend in San Diego started with a party bike tour around the city. A pub bike tour is almost exactly how it sounds, essentially a bar hop on a large bike. It is also a great way to…

Inca Trail Packing List: 4 Day Hike to Machu Picchu

One important thing to note before you start packing is whether you are going to get porters to carry your extra baggage. I highly recommend this, as the trail is hard enough without the extra weight on your back. I ended up getting a porter to carry my big bag with all my sleeping clothes and extra layers. This freed me up to only carry a small daypack with my water, some snacks, and an extra sweatshirt. Most people in our group ended up getting a porter for day 2 after struggling through the first day with their heavy bags. Also, if you are traveling around to other places in…

Hiking Machu Picchu: 4 Days on the Inca Trail

A couple months back, Chris and I were asked to hike Machu Picchu in Peru. We immediately jumped at the chance to go. The next couple of months we spent trying to prepare ourselves mentally and physically for the four day hike. After loads of research, buying out L.L.Bean and actually using that monthly gym membership, I felt relatively confident. But nothing could fully prepare me for the truly amazing experience of hiking Machu Picchu. Day 1 Our alarm goes off unreasonably early at 4am. We stumble out of our bed and gather the last remaining items we hadn’t packed up the night before. I dressed in warm leggings, hiking…
